The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation have sued Donald Trump, two aides and the executive office of the president over a paid Truth Social data service offering early access to posts by senior officials. They argue that selling faster access to potentially market-moving official information is corrupt and unconstitutional, particularly because Trump remains the company’s largest shareholder.

The service, called Truth API, launched on 1 August and costs $100,000 a month, or $60,000 monthly on a three-year commitment. It provides accelerated access to posts from 10 prominent accounts, including Trump, Vice-President JD Vance and press secretary Karoline Leavitt; Trump Media reportedly said it had more than 10 subscribers by 10 August. The lawsuit also cites concerns over access to deleted or altered posts and seeks to stop Truth Social being the exclusive channel for official announcements while preferential access is sold.
