Christopher Judge, who voices Kratos in the recent God of War games, has criticised the television adaptation’s apparent failure to employ writers from the games. Speaking at FanExpo, he argued that adaptations should involve the original cast and creative teams, particularly when they closely recreate established stories, and questioned why experienced God of War writers were excluded.

Cory Barlog and PlayStation head Hermen Hulst are executive producers on Amazon’s series, although their day-to-day involvement is unclear. The comments follow a July production shutdown after Kratos actor Ryan Hurst was injured during a stunt; the role is reportedly being recast, with Dave Bautista in talks, and filming is expected to resume in autumn.
