Former University of California, Santa Barbara student Arian Eteghaei was convicted of forcible rape, forcible sexual penetration and domestic violence after a three-month trial. After the verdict, he allegedly tried to flee the Santa Barbara courthouse but was quickly detained, leaving him in custody and facing the prospect of a lengthy prison term as well as a separate escape charge.

The 23-year-old was convicted on three counts involving two victims, while jurors could not reach verdicts on 14 further counts linked to allegations involving six women.
