Paramount Officially Confirms That There’s More ‘Avatar: Aang’ To Go Around
Paramount has confirmed that its animated film Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will be accompanied by several books, signalling a broader return to the Avatar universe rather than a one-off release. The film reunites Aang and his original companions as adults, exploring the fragile peace that followed the Hundred Year War and the new pressures facing a changing world.
Set more than a decade after Aang defeated Fire Lord Ozai, the story sees Team Avatar confront the Denied, a group of non-benders who steal a powerful ancient object. Aang remains troubled by the extinction of the Air Nomads, while Sokka rebuilds the Southern Water Tribe, Toph teaches metalbending, Zuko rules as Fire Lord and Katara is influential in Republic City. Abrams Books will publish a 256-page behind-the-scenes art book by Ramin Zahed on 10 November 2026, alongside two novelisations.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated fantasy series set in a world where some people can control water, earth, fire or air. Aang is the Avatar, the only person able to master all four elements, and is expected to keep balance between nations.
The original story followed Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko as they tried to end the Hundred Year War, in which the Fire Nation sought to dominate the world. Aang eventually defeated Fire Lord Ozai, while Zuko, Ozai’s son, became Fire Lord and began rebuilding relations with the other nations.
The new story takes place after the war, when peace remains uncertain and tensions between people with bending abilities and those without them can emerge. It returns to the original group as adults, with Aang also facing the legacy of the Air Nomads, the people from whom he came.
