Stop Killing Games has joined a Dutch consumer-rights lawsuit accusing Sony of maintaining a monopoly over digital game sales on PlayStation consoles. The case argues that Sony’s sole control of the PlayStation Store is unfair to consumers and could become more significant if physical discs are withdrawn, leaving players with no alternative retailer for console games.

The lawsuit was brought by Stichting Massaschade & Consument on behalf of 1.7 million Dutch PlayStation users and has been developing since 2025 through its Fair PlayStation campaign. Supporters say physical retailers often sell games more cheaply than Sony’s store, while PC players can choose between several digital storefronts; Stop Killing Games’ backing follows its separate setback after the European Commission declined to change rules on preserving games when publishers close servers.
