The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s longest-running game series, first released in 1986. Its games usually follow the hero Link as he explores the kingdom of Hyrule, often trying to rescue Princess Zelda and defeat the villain Ganon or Ganondorf.
Nintendo has often marked major games and anniversaries with special versions of its consoles and controllers. These are usually made in limited numbers and use colours, symbols and artwork connected to a particular game or series.
Ocarina of Time, originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, is widely regarded as one of the most important Zelda games. A remake would bring that earlier adventure to newer hardware, while anniversary-themed products would reflect the series’ long history and its importance to Nintendo.
