Burgas, Bulgaria, will host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, marking the country’s first time staging the event after Bulgarian singer Dara won in Vienna. The seaside city’s selection over Sofia matters because Eurovision can bring major international exposure and economic benefits to host cities.

The contest will run from 12 to 15 May 2027, with the final on 15 May at the Arena Burgas, which opened in 2023. Burgas was chosen after a competitive process involving Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv, with organisers citing its venue, technical capacity, hotels, transport links and international accessibility. Recent hosts reportedly received economic boosts of €66m in Liverpool, €40m in Malmö and €58m in Basel.
