Culture podcast ‘How Long Gone’ will launch an awards show called ‘The Goneies’ in New York on 15 September, extending the brand beyond its long-running audio programme, live events and video format. The event matters as a new, podcast-led attempt to celebrate cultural figures, with organisers presenting it as an alternative to more established entertainment awards.

The inaugural ceremony will take place at Racket NYC in Manhattan, with limited tickets going on sale at 9am Eastern Time. Grammy-winning producer Brad Cook will lead the house band and serve as musical director, while celebrity guests and surprise musical performances are planned; the podcast, hosted by Chris Black and Jason Stewart, has produced more than 1,000 episodes.
