This film news round-up covers a restored release of Ken Russell’s controversial 1971 horror film “The Devils” and a 40th-anniversary cinema return for Hayao Miyazaki’s “Castle in the Sky”.

– Warner Bros. Clockwork will release a 4K restoration of “The Devils”, based on Russell’s 2004 private edit and restoring his intended version.
– The NC-17 film, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed, follows 17th-century priest Urbain Grandier and was originally rated X for violent and sexual content.
– After premiering at Cannes, it will screen at Toronto International Film Festival before a one-week US release from 16 October, including select 35mm showings.
– “Castle in the Sky” returns to cinemas from 22 to 26 August through Studio Ghibli Fest, in Japanese and English-dubbed versions.
