Erykah Badu and producer The Alchemist will release their long-awaited collaborative album on 28 August, ending a wait of more than a year since their first shared single, “Next To You”. The project marks Badu’s first proper album since 2010 and brings together two prominent, stylistically distinct artists.

The album was recorded over 15 months between Badu’s Dallas and The Alchemist’s Los Angeles, but has no confirmed title, artwork or tracklist; a Bandcamp listing suggests 17 mostly untitled songs. Their collaboration began after Badu expressed interest in rapping over The Alchemist’s beat for Mobb Deep’s “The Realest”, and they have announced the release alongside new six-and-a-half-minute single “Witch Doctor”.
