Composer-singer Vishal Mishra has written four of the six songs for “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups”, Geetu Mohandas’s gangster drama starring Yash, ahead of its worldwide cinema release on 26 August. He says the collaboration was founded on creative trust and authenticity, with the soundtrack designed to match the film’s violent yet romantic world rather than follow conventional Bollywood formulas.

Mishra describes the first released track, “Tabaahi”, written by Raj Shekhar and sung by Mishra, as both a love song and a song about destruction that introduces the film’s emotional landscape. He says its instruments and beats were closely aligned with Mohandas’s visuals, while another song, “Waqt”, combines a traditional Hindi romantic melody with EDM, dubstep elements and an English verse; the remaining soundtrack contributors include Ravi Basrur, Tanishk Bagchi and Faheem Abdullah.
