WIT Studio has teased an Attack on Titan-related announcement for 20 August, despite the anime having concluded its adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s manga in 2023. The post’s cryptic wording and image of several major characters have prompted speculation that the project could be a prequel or another franchise expansion, though no format or storyline has been confirmed.

The announcement is notable because WIT Studio has not led production on the series since 2019, when MAPPA took over for the Final Season; WIT animated the first 59 episodes. Attack on Titan’s ending was later repackaged as the compilation film The Last Attack, while producer Tetsuya Kinoshita has said the franchise intends to continue through films, concerts and game collaborations; Attack on Titan 3 is due on 10 December.
