Watch Björk play DJ set at solar eclipse rave in Iceland
Björk performed an hour-long DJ set at the Echolalia festival in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, timed around a total solar eclipse. The event was significant because it took place in the narrow path of totality during Iceland’s first total solar eclipse since 1954, combining a rare astronomical event with a high-profile electronic music programme.
The festival was held on 12 August near Reykjavík and also featured Arca, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, 33EMYBW, Sideproject and Ronja Jóhannsdóttir. Arca performed during totality at about 5.48pm, when darkness lasted just over a minute, before Björk began at 5.50pm in a balloon-like outfit; her set included music by Kelela, Machine Girl and Arca, plus a remix of her Rosalía and Yves Tumor collaboration ‘Berghain’.
