Microsoft is removing Mico, the animated mascot introduced for Copilot voice conversations in October 2025, from the voice section of its AI assistant. The change matters because it signals a retreat from using the character as the public face of Copilot’s voice experience, less than a year after its launch.

Mico will instead appear in Copilot’s Learn Live hub as a tutoring character, where Microsoft says it has more scope to react and teach. Voice interaction with Copilot will remain available, but Mico-specific voice settings will not transfer to its new location; Microsoft says lessons from the character will inform Copilot’s future design.
