Songwriter Jimmy Webb has announced Yours For the Taking: The Found Songs of Jimmy Webb to coincide with his 80th birthday, with the 13-track album due on 16 October via Sun Records. The project revisits previously overlooked, unrecorded or unfinished songs from across his career, reflecting Webb’s wish to preserve their youthful energy rather than leave them unheard.

The first release is the original demo of “Winter Clothes”, written for Frank Sinatra in the early 1970s, alongside a new version featuring Graham Nash. Other songs were originally pitched to artists including Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt and Barbra Streisand; the album was produced by Fred Mollin and recorded in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles. Webb, a three-time Grammy winner behind hits such as “Wichita Lineman”, “Galveston” and “MacArthur Park”, said he remains creatively driven despite turning 80.
