Kathie Hoops, a longtime Paramount Pictures financial executive, has died aged 66 after cancer. Her death marks the loss of a specialist who oversaw residual payments—an important part of how film industry performers and other rights-holders are paid—and advised the studio during collective bargaining negotiations.

Hoops died on 31 July in Woodland Hills. She worked for Paramount and its parent company for almost 40 years, becoming vice-president of residuals in 1994 and remaining in the role until companywide downsizing led to her departure in April 2024; she also helped introduce new residual-payment software and mentored colleagues.
