Smug Brothers Announce New Album Pinhole To Vortex: Hear “Extra All The Time” & “Bingo Diagram”
Dayton/Columbus indie-rock quartet Smug Brothers have announced their new album, Pinhole To Vortex, due next month. The release follows 2025’s Stuck On Beta and is significant as the band begins its rollout with two contrasting new tracks, “Extra All The Time” and its B-side “Bingo Diagram”.
“Extra All The Time” is described as bright and melodic, with influences reminiscent of Elephant 6 and a rhythm approaching dance-punk, while “Bingo Diagram” is slower and dreamier. Smug Brothers’ sound has been linked to local predecessors Guided By Voices, whose former drummer Don Thrasher now plays in the band; Pinhole To Vortex contains 15 tracks and will be released by Anyway on 18 September.
