Slipknot confirms departure of longtime DJ Sid Wilson

Slipknot has now officially confirmed that it has parted ways with longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson, ending his nearly 28-year association with the band. The brief social-media statement, posted on 14 August and later deleted, is the first direct confirmation after earlier reports of his removal, though it gave no reason for the decision.
TMZ reported on 31 July that Wilson, 49, had been dismissed, later alleging that tensions over his treatment of bandmates had led to the split; these claims have not been addressed by the band. Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 before its debut album, performed as #0 and supplied sound effects and background noises, while also occasionally touring as DJ Starscream.

Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Iowa in the mid-1990s. It became known for its aggressive music, large line-up, numbered stage identities and masked performances, and is one of the best-known bands in its genre.
Sid Wilson joined in 1998, before the group released its first album, and performed as member number 0. As the band’s DJ and keyboardist, he added turntable work, samples and other sounds to its music, while also pursuing work under the name DJ Starscream.
Changes in Slipknot’s line-up have drawn attention because several members have been closely associated with its sound and public image for many years. The group has continued to record and tour through previous personnel changes, while remaining an active major act in heavy music.
