Pixar is the animation studio behind films including Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Inside Out. It is owned by Disney and releases films for cinemas as well as, at times, Disney’s streaming service.
Ghost Market is an original story rather than a sequel to an existing Pixar film. It centres on a teenager from Chicago who, while on a family trip to Hawaii, finds a hidden place linked to both living people and the dead.
The film draws on Asian traditions and stories about boundaries between the living and the dead. Trevor Jimenez, who made the Oscar-nominated animated short Weekends, is reported to be directing it.
