Picasso print discovered in abandoned apartment eight years after gallery heist
A signed Picasso etching stolen from a Milwaukee art gallery in 2018 has been recovered after a landlord found it while clearing a vacant flat. The discovery restores a work believed lost for eight years and may help investigators revisit an art theft that had remained unsolved.
The print, *Torero*, is one of 30 known signed copies and was valued at $35,000–$50,000 when stolen. Its original gallery sticker remained on the frame; police now hold the work while ownership and insurance arrangements are resolved, and the investigation remains open despite the usual six-year limitation period for theft-related offences.
