Ukraine said it struck Russia’s Progress Rocket Space Center in the Samara region with ground-launched FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles. The site is a major producer of Soyuz rockets and military satellites, so sustained damage could affect both Russia’s space activity and related military capabilities.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike hit a Roscosmos enterprise involved in electronics production, though the extent of damage has not been independently established. Samara is roughly 900km from Ukraine’s border; Soyuz-2 rockets account for more than 85% of Russia’s 120-plus launches since 2020, while reported demand for 2027–30 is already 30–50% above production capacity.
