Residents of the Boyle Heights neighbourhood in Los Angeles are still contending with a foul stench and pest infestations weeks after a huge fire tore through a cold-storage warehouse on 17 June. The blaze destroyed large quantities of stored food, and the resulting decay has left an unpleasant odour hanging over the historic area, disrupting daily life for those living nearby.

Lineage Logistics, the company that operates the cold-storage facility, had reportedly not completed the clean-up of spoiled food by the time residents spoke out, leaving the smell and associated fly and pest problems unresolved. Local resident Evan Lovett described the ongoing impact on the community, highlighting frustration that, weeks on from the fire, the neighbourhood remains affected by the aftermath.
