Haim “always writing” as they take their time on New York-inspired new album

NME · 4 hours ago

Haim have signalled that a fifth studio album is in the works, with bassist Este Haim telling NME the band is "always writing" even as they take time to gather inspiration before committing to new material. The Los Angeles trio, made up of sisters Danielle, Este and Alana Haim, released their fourth record 'I Quit' last summer, and Este said the group now wants to "live in it a little bit" rather than rush the follow-up, including enjoying married life after wedding at 39.

Este said New York has become a major creative influence, citing the city's energy and reconnecting with old college friends since moving away from Los Angeles, though she admitted she does not yet know what the new sound will be. The interview took place while she discussed her separate work scoring the Bella Ramsey film Sunny Dancer and the Callum Turner film One Night Only, alongside other credits including Netflix's Maid and Anyone But You. Haim previously marked 'I Quit' with a surprise Glastonbury 2025 set and a UK arena tour, and released a deluxe edition last October featuring a Bon Iver collaboration, 'Tie You Down'.
