‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Fastest To Cross $800M At Domestic Box Office

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Sony/Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the fastest film ever to cross $800 million at the North American box office, reaching the milestone in just 19 days. That beats the previous record-holder, 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which took 23 days to hit the same mark, and underlines the extraordinary staying power of the Tom Holland-led film despite competition from several new releases.

The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed sequel is only the fourth film to reach $800 million domestically, following Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.6m final), Avengers: Endgame ($858.3m, also starring Holland) and Spider-Man: No Way Home ($804.7m, Holland and Zendaya's prior collaboration), making it the third $800m film for Holland and second for Zendaya. The film is projected to top the box office again in its fourth weekend with roughly $35 million despite new openers including Insidious: Out the Further, The Magic Faraway Tree and Mutiny, and it separately continues to close in on a place among the fastest films to reach $2 billion worldwide.
