Physical Disc Fans Must Wait to Play Control Resonant on PS5

Push Square · 3 hours ago

Remedy has confirmed that Control Resonant has gone gold, meaning the game's development is complete ahead of its digital launch on PS5, but physical disc copies will now arrive later than planned. The digital version remains on track for release via PS Store on 24th September 2026, while boxed copies have been pushed back to 15th October, creating a three-week gap between the two formats. The delay comes as physical media faces wider pressure, with Sony having already announced it will discontinue PlayStation discs from January 2028.

Remedy gave no specific reason for the hold-up, only stating it needed "more time to deliver the physical version to you". A similar gap occurred with the studio's previous release, Alan Wake 2, whose physical edition also lagged behind the digital launch. The developer, which is reportedly self-publishing this title, has not said whether the delay relates to preorder demand, manufacturing, or internal capacity.

  • Control Resonant's physical PS5 edition delayed to 15th October 2026.
  • Digital version still launches 24th September; game has gone gold.
  • Remedy gave no clear reason, echoing a similar Alan Wake 2 delay.
