A Trademark Renewal For Dr. Mario’s Mobile Game Has Apparently Been Spotted

Nintendo Life · 3 hours ago

A trademark renewal has apparently been spotted for Dr. Mario World, the mobile puzzle game Nintendo shut down in 2021, marking the first apparent acknowledgement of the title since its closure. While this has sparked hopes among fans for a possible revival, Nintendo Life cautions that trademark filings are routine business practice and don't necessarily signal an announcement is imminent, with one theory suggesting the move could be a response to preservation efforts targeting the game.

The filing was spotted and shared by social media user Mike Odyssey, who described it as a "NEW/UPDATE Trademark" filing for the discontinued title, originally released in 2019 as a free-to-play game before its 2021 shutdown. It follows a similar trademark refresh earlier this year for the 3DS eShop title Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure, and comes as Nintendo continues to add classic Dr. Mario games, such as Dr. Mario & Puzzle League, to its Switch Online 'Nintendo Classics' service.
