Journey Legend Teases Possible Reunion for Band’s Hometown Farewell Finale

American Songwriter · 4 hours ago

Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain has hinted that former frontman Steve Perry could make a surprise appearance at the band's farewell tour finale, raising the possibility of a fleeting reunion. The show will close out the Final Frontier Tour in Journey's hometown of San Francisco, giving fans hope that Perry, who left the band decades ago, might return to the stage for the occasion, even briefly.

The final concert of the 100-date tour takes place on 28 November in San Francisco, where the band originally formed. Speculation about Perry's involvement first emerged in February, when Cain said guitarist Neal Schon had already invited him and that Perry was "thinking about it," though Perry later issued a statement denying he planned to rejoin the band. Schon, meanwhile, has spoken warmly about the tour, saying the setlists have allowed the band creative freedom, while both he and Cain remained noncommittal about Journey's future beyond this run of shows.
