Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns this week with a comedic episode titled "Level Five Transporter Accident," the fifth instalment of the show's fourth season, in which a transporter malfunction turns the entire crew of the USS Enterprise into puppets. Collider has been given an exclusive sneak peek of the episode alongside behind-the-scenes photos showing the Jim Henson Company's puppet-making process, offering fans a rare look at the craft behind the episode's unusual premise.

Every main cast member except Spock, played by Ethan Peck, is transformed into a felt puppet, leaving them unable to operate the ship's controls or defend themselves. The photos trace each puppet's creation from mood board and concept art through to the finished prop, tailored to match each character's likeness and personality. With Spock the only crew member left in human form, he must find a way to resolve the crisis, while characters such as Pelia, played by Carol Kane, struggle to see the funny side of their new felt existence.
