‘Reagan’ & ‘Soul Surfer’ Filmmaker Sean McNamara To Direct Faith-Based Drama ‘Blank Canvas’
Filmmaker Sean McNamara, known for directing "Reagan" and "Soul Surfer," has signed on to write and direct a new faith-based drama titled "Blank Canvas," according to an exclusive report from Deadline. The project is based on the 2022 memoir of the same name by author, speaker and artist Marcy Gregg, and is currently in development under Brookwell McNamara Entertainment, the production company McNamara runs with longtime partner David Brookwell.
The story follows Gregg, who at the age of 30 suffered a serious medical complication during childbirth that caused her to lose 13 years of memory, and traces her subsequent journey to rebuild her identity, relationships and faith. David Brookwell and Sean McNamara will produce, with Will Crenshaw of Beaumont, Texas, serving as executive producer. McNamara's recent credits include the biopics "Soul On Fire," "Reagan" and "Bau: Artist at War," while his 2011 film "Soul Surfer," about surfer Bethany Hamilton, grossed close to $50 million.
