Marvel Officially Announces New X-Men Series After Live-Action Debut

Collider ·

Marvel has confirmed a new five-issue comic series, JEAN GREY #1, following days after Sadie Sink's live-action debut as the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and her casting as Jean Grey in the upcoming MCU X-Men reboot. Written by X-Men (2024) scribe Jed MacKay with art by Rogê Antônio, the series marks a significant return for one of Marvel's most iconic mutants, arriving as the studio ramps up X-Men content ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.

The series launches on 25 November 2026, shortly after DNX, a separate five-issue crossover event bringing together the X-Men and Fantastic Four in September 2026. Jean Grey #1 picks up immediately after DNX's conclusion, with Jean returning to Earth from her adventures as Phoenix to find the X-Men's world drastically altered; MacKay has teased that her comeback "throws off the balance in a pretty dramatic way" and marks the right moment for her to rejoin the team after years of the storyline being held back.

Jean Grey is a character in Marvel’s X-Men comics, a group of people born with mutant abilities who often face fear and discrimination because of them. She is also known as Phoenix, a powerful identity linked to her ability to wield enormous cosmic energy.

The X-Men have appeared in comics, films and television, while Marvel is developing a new live-action X-Men film for its Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Jean’s return follows DNX, a story bringing the X-Men together with the Fantastic Four, another superhero team.

The series is written by Jed MacKay, who has also worked on X-Men comics, with art by Rogê Antônio. It continues a long-running story about Jean’s place in the team and how her return affects its members.
