Bend Studio, the developer behind Days Gone, has endured a difficult period marked by lost leadership, cancelled projects, and strategic missteps. After abandoning plans for a Days Gone sequel, the studio began work on a fresh intellectual property designed as a live service experience. This project was terminated in 2025, the same year Sony shelved Bluepoint's God of War live service game, representing another significant blow to the studio's output during the current console cycle.

According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Bend is now developing an alternative project and may announce it publicly within the next year or two, assuming development commenced in earnest recently. The extended absence of major releases from the studio has meant it has largely sat out the PlayStation 5 generation, a particularly stark contrast given that the original Days Gone proved to be a substantial commercial success upon its release.
