New Sheffield café session launched for veterans and families

The Star (Sheffield) · 4 hours ago

Help for Heroes is launching a monthly social session aimed at veterans and their families in north Sheffield, responding to identified gaps in activities for the armed forces community. The charity cited a significant surge in support requests last year and noted approximately 13,000 veterans across South Yorkshire lack accessible social platforms.

The gatherings will operate on a casual, drop-in basis at the Sea Cadets Training Centre, featuring activities chosen by participants such as games and social events. Launching September 12, the sessions run on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, with previous similar programmes reportedly encouraging attendees to organise wider community initiatives.
