Game Science, the Chinese studio behind Black Myth: Wukong, is developing a sequel called Black Myth: Zhong Kui. It draws on the same figure from Chinese mythology as its title suggests, a legendary demon-hunter, and follows the studio's earlier action game, which became one of the best-selling titles of 2024 after drawing huge attention for its combat and visuals.
The studio has now shown a lengthy gameplay trailer, offering the first real look at how the new game plays and its combat mechanics, alongside glimpses of its story. Game Science has stressed the footage comes from an early build, so details could still change before release.
Anticipation is high because of how successful Wukong was, both commercially and in raising the profile of Chinese-developed games internationally. Any early footage of a follow-up is closely watched by players and the games industry as a gauge of whether the studio can repeat that success.
