The Naruto anime remake project, first announced in March 2023 for the series' 20th anniversary, has been dogged by silence and delay since its planned September 2023 release was pushed back that August. Fans have grown frustrated as animation studio Pierrot focused on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War instead, but a panel at New York Comic Con on 10 October, organised by Viz Media and Shueisha, is expected to reveal a "new project", reigniting speculation about the franchise's future.

Viz has teased the announcement with the line "Could this be the start of something big?", though details remain unconfirmed. October 2027 will mark the anime's 25th anniversary, and TV Tokyo has previously said it has "several projects planned" for the milestone, fuelling hope of a full remake rather than another minor tie-in such as a game or exhibition. The report also notes that Dragon Ball Super and a possible new Bleach project could return around the same period, alongside the ongoing One Piece anime remake.
