Divers have identified the wreck of HMS Tiger, a Royal Navy warship that sank off the Isle of Wight 118 years ago, finally solving a long-standing mystery about its location. The discovery closes the book on one of the Royal Navy's lesser-known 20th-century disasters, offering historians and enthusiasts a confirmed resting place for a vessel whose loss killed more than half its crew.

HMS Tiger sank in 1908 after colliding with another Royal Navy warship, the 10,000-tonne HMS Berwick, according to news agency SWNS. More than half of Tiger's 57 crew members died in the sinking, and the wreck went undiscovered for over a century before divers recently located its remains beneath the waves.
