The Pokémon Company has announced that the next expansion for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, the mobile card game, will be called Team Rocket's Ambition. The expansion introduces cards and cosmetics themed around the villainous Team Rocket, alongside a new in-game feature designed to boost player engagement following a reported decline in the game's user base.

Team Rocket's Ambition launches on 26 August at 6pm PDT, featuring new card artwork with the team's signature R mark, plus Giovanni and Persian-themed covers and backdrops. It brings several time-limited events, including Special Assignments (a first for the game, running until 28 September, where players earn Shady Tickets), an Emblem event until 9 September, a Lapras Drop event from 9-19 September, and a Wonder Pick event featuring Fennekin and Meowstic from 18-28 September. A Great Puzzle Challenge will also let players redeem online puzzle solutions for in-game rewards. The push follows co-developer DeNA's disclosure that the game has seen roughly a 41% drop in players since last year, with these new events forming part of efforts to improve retention.
