Jorja Smith – What Are The Odds
Jorja Smith has released her latest album, 'What Are The Odds', which critics say marks some of her most daring and genre-fluid work to date. Since breaking through with 'Blue Lights', the Walsall-born singer-songwriter has sometimes drawn criticism for ballad-heavy material, but this record instead leans into her established knack for shifting between styles, producing what is described as her most free and fun project yet.
The album is produced entirely by P2J, previously known for work with Beyoncé and FKA Twigs, and moves across rap, funky house, dance and UK garage, from the bass-driven opener 'For Life' to the grime-and-drill-tinged title track. Guest features include grime veteran Devlin on 'This City' and Wizkid on 'Alive', blending afro-house and afrobeat. Beneath the upbeat production, the lyrics tackle personal themes including toxic relationships, fading friendships and addiction, reflecting on Smith's decade in the public eye.
