WWE star Ilja Dragunov departs company after being out of action for 4 months
WWE has parted ways with Ilja Dragunov, moving the former United States, NXT and NXT UK champion to its alumni section, after his contract expired following four months on the sidelines through injury. The 32-year-old is regarded as one of wrestling's top performers, making his departure a notable loss for the promotion and a significant development for his career going forward.
Dragunov signed with WWE in February 2019 after building his reputation with UK promotion Progress Wrestling, and went on to win multiple titles during his run with the company. His exit was confirmed when WWE updated his profile to alumni status on Thursday, with PW Insider reporting that his deal had simply run out rather than being terminated.
