Virgin Music Group’s U.K. President Vanessa Bosåen Departs After Five Years: ‘One of the Defining Experiences of My Career’

Virgin Music Group's UK president Vanessa Bosåen is leaving the company after five years in the role, the news first shared in an internal staff memo on 20 August and subsequently on her LinkedIn profile. Her departure follows VMG's recent acquisition of Downtown Music and a June restructuring in which the group announced a new global and regional leadership team, with Nick Roden appointed president for Europe.

Bosåen joined Virgin in 2021 when it relaunched as a label services producer and distributor under Universal Music Group, having previously founded Regent Street Records and spent 15 years as a touring musician under the name Vanessa Knight. During her tenure she oversaw campaigns for artists including Rema, Beabadoobee, Melanie C, Self Esteem, D-Block Europe and Underworld, and was named to Billboard UK's Power Players lists in both 2025 and 2026. In her farewell note she described building the UK business as "one of the defining experiences" of her career, while VMG has yet to respond to Billboard's request for further comment.
