US Army Is Officially Using ‘GTA 6’ Time as a Reenlistment Incentive

Polygon · 4 hours ago

An Army battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, is offering soldiers a four-day pass timed to coincide with the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 as an incentive to reenlist. The offer, from the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion within the 3rd Infantry Division, applies only to that unit rather than the Army as a whole, and reflects a wider, if unusual, tradition of creative retention perks used to hit recruitment targets.

Soldiers who sign a reenlistment contract between 1 August and 14 November qualify for the pass, and an Army spokesperson confirmed that 20 of 120 eligible soldiers had already taken up the offer, which was reportedly devised by a career counsellor aiming to meet the unit's 2027 reenlistment goals. Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on 19 November at $79.99, with Netflix due to air an exclusive six-hour preview on 27 August; the game has also recently suffered a fresh round of leaks from a hacker calling themselves Cyberleek.
