Tramell Tillman, best known for the Apple TV+ series Severance, has spoken publicly for the first time about his secret role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, having kept the part hidden from fans, friends and family since his casting was announced in August 2025. In an interview with Polygon, the actor answered spoiler-filled questions about his character, Bill Metzger, head of the Department of Damage Control, and the character's actions and fate in the film.

In the film, Metzger partners with Spider-Man (Tom Holland) to stop a powerful threat later revealed to be Jean Grey (Sadie Sink), having previously experimented fatally on Jean's sister and then captured Jean herself to do the same. Tillman defended his character as acting to protect the public rather than out of malice, and suggested Metzger, whose fate is left ambiguous after a climactic scene involving the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), likely survived and is now recovering in hiding. The interview also touched on the contribution of screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, brought in alongside series regulars Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers to help shape the film's script.
