Driver denies causing man’s careless driving death
A 20-year-old man has denied causing the death of a pedestrian and seriously injuring another through careless driving following a crash in Doncaster. Jake Rowlands appeared at Sheffield Crown Court in connection with the incident on Mill Street, Armthorpe, in which two elderly pedestrians were struck by a Vauxhall Corsa he was driving.
The crash, which occurred on 8 January, killed 77-year-old Oleh Mykhailenko, who died in hospital, and left 71-year-old Natalia Mykhailenko with serious injuries. Rowlands, of Brook Way, Doncaster, was released on unconditional bail and is due to stand trial in June next year.
