Ms Marvel Star Returns to MCU With Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast

IGN ·

Ms. Marvel actress Iman Vellani is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not on screen but as host of a new companion podcast, Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast, launching ahead of the blockbuster's December release. The move keeps Vellani connected to the MCU even though she has not been confirmed for a role in Doomsday itself, and it forms part of Marvel's broader promotional push to build anticipation for the film.

The five-episode podcast, co-hosted by Vellani and podcaster Frank Alvarez, begins on 27 August and will air on Disney+ and Marvel's YouTube channel before moving to audio-only platforms. Rather than revealing plot details, it will recap key moments from the MCU's history, with the final episode focusing on Avengers: Endgame to coincide with the theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame Encore. Vellani and her Marvels co-stars have not been announced for Doomsday, though fans speculate Kamala Khan could appear in a cameo or feature more heavily in the follow-up film, Avengers: Secret Wars. Avengers: Doomsday is due in cinemas on 18 December 2026.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, is a series of connected superhero films and television shows made by Marvel Studios. Its stories feature characters such as the Avengers, whose members have joined forces to face major threats.

Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, also known as Ms Marvel, a young superhero introduced in the MCU’s television series and later seen in the film The Marvels. Avengers: Doomsday is the next Avengers film, with Avengers: Secret Wars planned as its follow-up.

Marvel often releases companion programmes to revisit earlier stories and introduce audiences to the background of a new film. Avengers: Endgame is a key earlier instalment, bringing together several long-running storylines and setting up events that continue across the MCU.
