“The lines between redemption and revenge will blur”, promises Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2’s latest trailer as the series locks in a late October release
CD Projekt Red and Netflix have confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the follow-up to the popular anime spin-off of Cyberpunk 2077, will premiere on 20 October. A new teaser trailer sets up a story of "revenge and redemption" following four new Night City residents, positioning the show as a substantial autumn release that arrives before the industry quietens down ahead of GTA 6's console launch.
The trailer suggests the four leads split into two pairings: veteran edgerunner Weak Kingsley helps corpo operative Talia Yang escape her old life while grappling with losing his own cyberware, while nomad netrunner D, who survived a fire that destroyed his clan, crosses paths with aspiring documentarian Roman Carax. The footage teases action, emotional drama and unsettling dialogue about D being "a weapon made out of people". The series builds on the first Edgerunners run, which proved hugely popular and drove renewed interest in the Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a 2022 animated series made by Studio Trigger for Netflix, set in the same futuristic Night City as the video game Cyberpunk 2077, which is developed by Polish studio CD Projekt Red. The original series followed a street kid drawn into dangerous mercenary work as a cybernetically enhanced fighter, known in the game's world as an "edgerunner". It was well received on its release and gave a lasting boost to interest in the game.
The new series continues that world with a different cast of characters. It follows a mix of new figures, including an experienced mercenary, a corporate worker trying to leave that life behind, a nomad whose community was destroyed, and a documentary filmmaker, whose stories are set to intertwine across Night City. CD Projekt Red and Netflix jointly produce this material, tying the show closely to the wider Cyberpunk game franchise rather than being a standalone spin-off.
The series matters both to fans of the game and to Netflix's animation slate, since the first outing helped draw new players to Cyberpunk 2077 years after its troubled 2020 launch. Its release is also being watched in the context of the broader entertainment and gaming calendar, with major titles expected to dominate attention later in the year.
