Bassvictim member Ike Clateman has apologised to hyperpop artist daine after remarks he made about their collaboration were interpreted as a diss, briefly stirring speculation of a rift between the two rising acts. The clarification matters mainly for fans of the scene, as it defuses a minor social media dispute rather than any serious conflict, allowing both daine's original track and Bassvictim's remix to be enjoyed without controversy overshadowing them.

The spat began when Clateman said in an Instagram live session that daine's team kept "hitting us up" for a remix with an offer that "kept getting higher and higher," prompting daine to reply that this was "poor taste" and untrue, insisting they were not desperate. Clateman later posted on Bassvictim's Instagram story that he "never meant to diss daine," praised the "gorgeous" vocal melody on daine's single "PQC," and said the whole issue was "not that deep." Bassvictim's remix of "PQC" was released last month, ahead of daine's forthcoming debut album, In Endless Awe & Agony, due later this year.
