Agatha Christie’s Sherlock Holmes Replacement Officially Revealed

Collider · 3 hours ago

BritBox has unveiled the first look at Edward Bluemel as Hercule Poirot in "Hercule", a new six-part drama based on Agatha Christie's Belgian detective. The series marks the latest screen incarnation of Poirot, following actors such as Albert Finney, Peter Ustinov, David Suchet and Kenneth Branagh, and comes as BritBox and the BBC seek to give the character a fresh, more character-driven treatment rather than another star-studded murder mystery.

Production has begun in Liverpool on the series, produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited. Rather than a single high-profile case in an exotic setting, "Hercule" is billed as an "intimate study" of Poirot himself, drawing on three of Christie's earliest stories and introducing characters who will become his future allies, as well as a significant future nemesis.
