Young Miko Names Bad Bunny, Tego Calderon to Her Reggaeton Mount Rushmore

Consequence · 3 hours ago

Reggaeton star Young Miko struggled to whittle down her personal "Mount Rushmore" of the genre to just four artists in an interview with Complex Music. The Puerto Rican rapper, known for her genre-blending sound, cited a long list of influences from across the island's music scene, ultimately refusing to settle on a definitive top four.

She named Wisin & Yandel and Tego Calderón as artists she grew up listening to extensively, along with Jowell & Randy, Chencho Corleone, and Ñejo & Dálmata, before adding Bad Bunny to the list, someone she has previously collaborated with on the 2023 track "FINA" and performed alongside during his Madrid tour date in March. When pressed to narrow it to four, she declined, saying simply that any artist from Puerto Rico "is up there" for her given their shared cultural roots. The interview comes as Miko prepares for the North American leg of her Late Checkout Tour, her first full arena tour, running through Mexico and the United States this autumn.
