Gorilla Grodd and Jimmy Olsen Show Gets Official Title and Cast List as DC Promises True Crime Documentary With a Comedic Spin

IGN · 4 hours ago

DC Studios has confirmed the official title, cast and format of its long-rumoured Gorilla Grodd and Jimmy Olsen spin-off, revealing it as "The People v. Gorilla Grodd", a comedic true-crime docuseries heading to HBO Max. Co-CEO James Gunn announced the news via social media, ending months of speculation about a project that had previously only been described in vague terms since details first emerged late last year.

The eight-part, half-hour series follows Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen as he reopens the murder trial of Gorilla Grodd, who was convicted of killing his father, the King of Gorilla City. Skyler Gisondo and Jimmy Tatro reprise their roles as Olsen and Grodd respectively, joined by returning Superman cast members Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover and Wendell Pierce as fellow Daily Planet staff, alongside newcomers including Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Dan Perrault and Arian Moayed. American Vandal creators Tony Yacenda and Perrault serve as showrunners and writers, with Yacenda directing every episode, and both have described the show as feeling "less like an entry into the DCU and more like an artifact from it".

  • DC's Grodd/Olsen show is officially titled "The People v. Gorilla Grodd".
  • Eight-episode true-crime comedy series lands on HBO Max.
  • Skyler Gisondo and Jimmy Tatro lead a stacked returning cast.
