Call of Duty is making its return to Nintendo platforms for the first time in over a decade with the October release of Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2. Infinity Ward has partnered with Digital Legends, a Madrid-based studio that Activision acquired in 2021, to develop a native version for the new console. Digital Legends has built experience with the franchise through recent ports of Black Ops 6, 7, and Warzone.

The Switch 2 version will release simultaneously with other platforms on 23rd October 2026, following an open beta period beginning 28th August that will include both campaign and multiplayer content with cross-platform play. Initial reactions from gaming media and content creators who accessed early builds suggest the port maintains solid performance, running at 60 frames per second whilst supporting mouse and keyboard input.

  • Call of Duty returns to Nintendo after 13 years with Modern Warfare 4 launching on Switch 2 this October
  • Digital Legends, an Activision-owned Spanish studio, is developing the native port with an open beta starting 28th August
