Ipswich began their Premier League return with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland, sealed by Jack Clarke’s 90th-minute winner. The result offers early encouragement that Ipswich’s heavy summer investment may give them a better chance of avoiding relegation than in their previous top-flight campaign.

Emersonn opened the scoring after Julio Enciso exploited a poor pass from Luke O’Nien, while Clarke struck late to secure the points after Sunderland responded.
